Milestones from our joint work with KIQBNS.
At the 29th Annual Meeting of the Korean Society for Brain and Neural Sciences (Daejeon Convention Center), KIQBNS and Q-Gen Bio jointly presented findings (poster P-679) that wake-state K-complex-like responses coincide with cerebral blood flow and heart-rate variability in the roughly 0.1 Hz Mayer-wave band. This remains an early feasibility study in a small number of subjects; the team named the framework the ‘WI-KC-delta-Mayer-wave framework.’
A follow-on international patent application (PCT/KR2026/012515) covering a closed-loop safety design based on bio-impedance feedback was filed, and is currently under international search.
Q-Gen Bio Ltd. was formally incorporated in Seoul as KIQBNS's commercialization spin-off.
At the 7th AKN (Association of Korean Neuroscientists in America) Symposium, the team presented tRFPM-based research on clearing brain waste products and a proposed mechanism for addressing ARIA, a side effect of antibody-based dementia therapies.
An international patent application (PCT/KR2025/023282), with a priority date of December 31, 2024, received a favorable search report from the International Searching Authority, affirming novelty, inventive step, and industrial applicability across all of claims 1–9.
At K-Brain 2025 in Songdo, founder Kim Kwang-woo presented his first poster, titled “Real-Time Induction of K-Complexes by Non-Invasive DBS,” on inducing wake-state K-complex-like activity, marking his debut in the formal scientific community. Dr. Kim Gil-hyun, a KAIST graduate, mentored him on methodology and scientific rigor.
